When thinking about having a non-surgical cosmetic procedure, a conversation about dermal fillers or BOTOX® most likely has come up. Both of these treatments will give you great results, but if you aren’t ready to commit to lip augmentation just yet, we’ve got you covered. The procedure is called the ‘BOTOX® Lip Flip’ and it combines the best of both worlds when it comes to wrinkle relaxers and fillers without downtime. Here’s everything you need to know about the industry’s newest and most popular treatment.
The lip flip procedure is a treatment that will give you the appearance of fuller lips and a less gummy smile. The biggest difference between the lip flip and traditional fillers is that our board-certified nurse injector, Trish Hultgren, FNP-C, will inject one of the neuromodulators, also known as, BOTOX® or Dysport®, instead of adding volume with fillers. The neuromodulators will help to gently relax your orbicularis oris muscle that is responsible for gummy smiles and thin upper lips.
When thinking about whether you might be a good candidate for a lip flip, it is important to make an appointment with our very experienced nurse injector and communicate clearly your new lip goals! She will first go over the difference between fillers and BOTOX®, ask you about what look you would like to achieve, and then make a recommendation based on the consult. An ideal patient for the lip flip is someone who wants a subtle yet noticeable change in the look of their lips. If you desire a lot more fullness or increased lip projection, adding a dermal filler, such as Restylane® Kysse™ or Juvéderm Ultra XC will be a good idea.
After your consultation, Trish will begin numbing your lips to prepare for the treatment. Once numbed, she will strategically place a few units of BOTOX in the upper part of your lips. The best part? This process only takes about 20 seconds and is an affordable option! Contact us for our latest medspa promos to save even more money.
Choosing between lip fillers and a lip flip can be confusing, so here are the biggest benefits of the lip flip. A lot of patients that are looking to ease into cosmetic procedures are nervous about not looking like themselves. With the lip flip, you are not altering your face in a dramatic way just enhancing your natural smile to appear fuller instead of looking gummy. There is also zero downtime after receiving your lip flip. You are able to stop by our office in Scottsdale at a time that is convenient for you, and you’ll be able to continue on with your day as you planned.
After your procedure, Trish will go over when to expect results and how to take care of your lips in the next following days. Make sure to always use a clean mask for the following days. Experiencing soreness or slight bruising after your treatment is totally normal and nothing to be alarmed about. If do you bruise easily, Trish recommends stopping the use of ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and/or limit the consumption of alcohol a few days before your appointment. You can also take Arnica tablets to help prevent further bruising. For mild discomfort, acetaminophen should suffice.
Unlike lip fillers, you won’t be able to see results from the lip flip right away, but that doesn’t mean the procedure didn’t work. In just a couple of days, you will start to notice a difference when you look in the mirror. You will see your smile isn’t as gummy but more uniform resulting in a subtle, natural change. Typical results will last between 6 to 8 weeks depending on each individual. Once your lip flip wears off and you are wanting more of a noticeable enhancement, we’ll be here!
