If you’re an individual looking for a way to make your face appear more feminine or masculine without surgery, then you’re in the right place. We’ve put together this list of non-surgical procedures done in-office here at Guerra Plastic Surgery Center, Scottsdale, Arizona. Depending on each individual’s goals, this is a great way to dip your toes in the pool of aesthetic treatments!
Parts of the lower face like the chin, jaw, jawline, and lips can be enhanced or reduced depending on what type of injectable is used. The lips are so important in feminizing your face. Lip fillers, like Restylane Kysse, can create fuller lips and create a more feminine look. Great lip care (avoid sun, smoking, and hydrate) and colors are also important to feminize lips! We recommend LipLux, for immediately after the injection, but pick a good lip gloss with the right color to really enhance for the long-term.
If you’re looking to reduce the appearance of your jaw in order to make it appear more feminine, BOTOX can be placed strategically to make this happen. The masseter is one of the muscles that helps you chew, and it connects the cheekbone to your lower jawbone. BOTOX can be injected to relax the masseter muscle, resulting in a slimmer jawline. Additionally, chin filler, jawline, and cheek fillers that add both lifting and volume are critical to enhancing the female and male facial structures. We recommend Restylane Lyft for a strong and masculine jawline, but the same filler can be used in highlighting the youthful cheek. A deflated cheek volume from weight loss or aging, can be reversed with Scultpra or the newly FDA approved Restylane Contour filler.
If you’re wanting to make your face appear more masculine, dermal fillers like Juvederm Voluma or Restylane Lyft are a great fit. By adding volume to your lower face, such as the jawline or chin, you can create a more prominent, masculine profile. Whether you’re looking to appear more feminine or masculine, fillers can also be added to the lip and mouth area.
When looking at the upper face, most of the questions we get asked pertain to how to eliminate wrinkles. Botox and Dysport can both be used to smooth out wrinkles in areas around the eyes, forehead, and eyebrows to make an individual appear younger. These injectables can also be placed strategically near the top of the eyebrow in order for them to appear more lifted. The combination of dermal filler and neuromodulators can arch the eyebrow for a feminie enhancement, while flattening the arch is a solid technique to improve the masculine look. Deep sunken under eyes or tear troughs can be transformed to look more awake with the injections of dermal fillers. This can not only help hereditary under-eye dark circles, but the results can last up to a year!
For a more masculine face, our injector might recommend hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. When expertly placed near the cheeks and cheekbones, it can result in a more ‘chiseled’ and full appearance.
Minimally invasive injectables have some aftercare, but not nearly as much as traditional facial shaping surgery. For BOTOX and Dysport, the downtime is very minimal, one to two days. There will be some initial swelling where the injections were placed, but they will subside in a couple of hours. Make sure to not exercise for 24 hours, and do not lay down for four hours after your appointment.
Injectables such as dermal fillers will have a downtime of a couple of days. The biggest side effect is swelling and bruising, but these can be lowered by taking Arnica tablets a week before and also avoiding alcohol. For a complete list of what to expect after injectables, refer to the list below.
